On April 10, 1999 four friends and soon-to-be business partners signed an LLC Operating Agreement and opened up a company bank account. That was the moment that Idea and Design Works was born and began providing creative services. While comics were not part of the original plan, the four founders soon found themselves dipping their toes back in the publishing business.
The History of IDW Publishing exhibit walks guests through IDW’s early days to its current position as one of the largest comic book publishers in the Americas. Visitors will learn about IDW’s very first published art book with the then up-and-coming illustrator Ashley Wood and their taking a chance on two unknown creators and releasing the acclaimed comic 30 Days of Night all the way through to IDW’s current position as a television production company and tabletop game publisher.
There will be an opening event February 2nd at 6pm with current IDW staff and founders available to chat and discuss the history of IDW.
