The San Diego Comic Art Gallery is turning ONE YEAR OLD!

On June 5th, 2015, the San Diego Comic Art Gallery opened up its doors for the very first time. As we near our one-year anniversary, we’d like to invite you to come celebrate the occasion with us! To add to the fun, Paramount Pictures & Nickelodeon Films new bockbuster, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows”, opens up June 3rd. We have 3 events planned that will span over the course of a week that will be filled with fun for everyone –

June 3rdKevin Eastman (co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and IDW Publishing will be hosting the public debut of the Hero Initiative’s “The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 100 Project”. IDW & Hero Initiative commissioned 100 artists including Dale Keown, While Portacio, Bill Sienkiewicz, Walter Simonson and more to do original drawings right on the covers. All the amazing art will be on display, live and in-person, for one night ONLY. Eastman did an additional 15 original covers which will be available for purchase the night of the event AND he’ll be live-sketching two additional covers. Other participating artists will be in attendance as well with more live sketching from the artists. This event is free to the public and will be from 6:00pm-9:00pm.


June 10thSDCAG and Rueben H. Fleet Science Center will be holding the next “Comics & Science” talk here in the gallery. This month’s subject is “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Godzilla, & the Science of Mutations”. Fleet will have different scientists on hand from the field of mutations and genetics to chat with our panel of IDW Publishing comic creators who deal in mutated and irradiated characters including Chris Mowry (writer on Godzilla), Tom Waltz (writer on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Kevin Eastman. Tickets are $15 and will be from 6:30pm-8:00pm.


June 11th NTC Arts & Culture District will be holding their annual Summer Block Party and SDCAG will be joining in on the fun. We’ll have refreshments on hand and Kevin Eastman will be signing that evening. The block party is open to the public and will be from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
